Ever find something that triggers an entire series of memories?
It happened to me this morning.
November 20th, last year. It was the day I wrote the melody for “Still Believe”. I set up a 4 or 5 part loop…
A throwback to a traditional song that begins by fading in and out like the soundtrack of a distant memory or a dream. It then introduces a hard-hitting beat that swells and pulls you into a passionate fury of anthemic rock with bursts of virtuosic guitar lines. It finally ends like every good dream should, leaving you with sweet resolution, but also a subtle longing in your heart to return.
“If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing.”
From soulful solo guitar pieces to Epic soundtrack-infused rock with a world music twist and a dash of electronic seasoning, Ring covers a lot of ground stylistically.
You might hear something like it in a video game, a movie, or a live concert equally ...but the one constant is that he makes it his priority to aim from the heart and to aim for the heart.
